The Film Co-Operative, the independent film production company founded by producer Nuala Quinn-Barton, welcomes screenwriting brothers Darren Brooks and Evan Brooks to its roster of represented talent. Quinn-Barton will represent the writing team.
A Natural Selection and The Roosevelt
The brothers wrote A Natural Selection, a contained, elevated psychological thriller directed by James Bamford (Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) and produced by Nuala Quinn-Barton, with a cast that includes Radha Mitchell, Malcolm McDowell and John Glover.
They also wrote The Roosevelt, a fast-paced fantasy adventure in the spirit of the Amblin classics. In it, a struggling actor lands the role of a lifetime when he time-travels into the body of his favourite 1930s movie star, only to find himself living one of Hollywood’s greatest unsolved mysteries.
A historian and a scientist
Raised in Chesterland, Ohio, just outside Cleveland, the brothers bring two very different backgrounds to the page. Darren holds a master’s degree in history from Kent State University. Evan studied French literature and biochemistry at Cornell University, where he wrote for the humor magazine The Cornell Lunatic. Their stories are grounded in real research from the first draft. Evan also creates the key art and animated promos for their projects, including the visual campaign for A Natural Selection.
“Darren and Evan write the kind of smart, grounded genre stories that audiences and financiers are looking for,” said Nuala Quinn-Barton, CEO and founder of The Film Co-Operative. “We’re excited to bring The Roosevelt and their next projects to market.”
